As of this past October, art teacher Mrs. Loeb has officially opened the East Ridge High School Art Club. The club has meetings on the first and third Monday of every month after school in Mrs. Loeb’s room, 2-1, from 2:30 to 3:30. Whether you are planning on becoming an art-world major or are someone just interested in picking up art as a hobby, all are welcome in the diverse and friendly environment

Rest assured, it can be said that there are many fun and exciting projects planned for this year by popular demand of current members, ones that will exploit both known as well as unknown artistic talents in mediums both familiar and brand new.  The list consisting of graffiti/mural art, comic book and graphic novel art, three-dimensional sculpting and paper mâché, as well as many other projects that are equally unique and unconventional, and will cover much of the art world throughout the year. If there is any specific media you wish to cover this year that has not already been mentioned, there is a running list of suggestions that can be added to that is periodically voted on by every member to determine the next project.

The aim of the club is to embrace experimentalism and expressionism via the fine arts in a comfortable and positive atmosphere.  There will be critique sessions that will be moderated to ensure only constructive criticism and encouragement of peers. Discouragement, wherever you are in your journey, is unacceptable.  There is no required lab fee in joining and no required supplies to bring as all will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
